About Us

The MLV Foundation—short for My Limitless Vision—is a dynamic 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a heartfelt mission: to “connect the visually impaired and blind in order to enhance lives, encourage independence, and expand awareness.” Founded by Debbie Sanders, the organization was born from her personal journey with glaucoma, which gradually eroded her vision. As she adjusted to life with blindness, Debbie experienced the deep isolation that often follows vision loss. Realizing others likely faced the same struggles, she began organizing peer gatherings and outdoor activities—like “Hooks, Oars & S’mores”—to create welcoming spaces where people with vision loss could build confidence, test mobility skills, and enjoy meaningful connection.

What began as a personal outreach effort soon grew into a formal organization. Originally headquartered in Perkins, OK, with an additional location in Carthage, MO, MLV Foundation now serves the broader four-state region: Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Arkansas. The nonprofit was founded in 2015 and gained 501(c)(3) status in 2017. For nearly a decade, Debbie has led the Foundation with compassion, authenticity, and lived experience.

At the heart of MLV’s work are its core values: Enhancing Lives, Encouraging Independence, and Expanding Awareness. These principles guide every program and partnership. One of the Foundation’s signature efforts is the MOKA Conference for the Blind, a biennial regional summit that brings together hundreds of individuals, family members, professionals, and service providers. The conference features breakout sessions, keynote speakers, CEU-accredited training for specialists, and an expo hall with over 35 booths showcasing the latest assistive technology. What started as small social outings has evolved into a high-impact event that educates, empowers, and connects.

What sets MLV Foundation apart is its grassroots spirit. Debbie doesn’t just lead the organization—she lives the mission. Her personal experience ensures that every program is shaped by real-world needs, from mobility and technology training to emotional support and advocacy. Over the past decade, MLV has grown from casual meetups to a robust slate of programs, including adaptive sports, assistive tech training, peer support, and its flagship conference. Through it all, the organization remains committed to its human-centered roots—offering not just knowledge and tools, but confidence, community, and hope. As Debbie often says: There is life after vision loss—and with the right support, that life can be limitless.
